Drowning in Doubt Reflecting on 2024 & Facing the Unknown

As I type this article, I am overwhelmed by the unknown.

Uncertainty is one of my biggest fears.

I know I can’t control everything.

But I wish I could foresee how some things will turn out.

As the year ends, I’m not even thinking of my plans for the next year.

Instead, I’m looking at the last 360-something days and wondering what I achieved.

And what triggered that feeling, you might ask.

I see friends, family members, and strangers online enjoying Christmas.

Taking pictures with the Christmas tree, looking happy and somewhat fulfilled.

I know I preach; stop comparing lives.

But sometimes, we can’t help how we feel.

And when your life hasn’t yet turned out how you hoped and planned for, it can be hard not to compare.

That’s why I’m feeling weird and overwhelmed this morning.

What I’m doing right now?

Listening to a slow playlist on the YouTube music app and typing this thing.

I can’t call it an article because I’m unsure if I want to publish it.

Or if it would help someone out there.

But I’m just going through the motions and wanting to cry my eyes out.

And every now and then, I take a break to stop the tears streaming down.

I also hide my crying eyes from my kids while they enjoy Christmas presents.

I can’t have them asking why I’m crying.

The thought of that makes me cry even more.

So what am I going to do about this feeling?

I guess typing it out is one way to let it all out.

But the rest of this crying will be done in the shower.

But I’ll be okay.

We’ll be okay.

Life is a journey filled with ups and downs.

And moments like these, when emotions run high, are part of that journey.

It’s okay to feel vulnerable and uncertain; it’s part of being human.

Remember, you are not alone in feeling this way.

And taking the time to process these emotions is perfectly fine.

As you navigate these feelings, consider reaching out to someone you trust.

Perhaps a friend or family member, to share your thoughts.

Sometimes, a listening ear can make a world of difference.

And if writing (or journaling) brings you solace, let the words flow, even if they never see the light of day.

It’s a powerful way to connect with yourself.

Take small steps towards embracing the unknown

Knowing that each day is a fresh opportunity to discover something new about yourself and the world around you.

Celebrate the small victories, and remember you are doing your best.

In time, the path ahead will become clearer, and the weight of these emotions will lighten.

Wishing you strength and peace as you find your way through this moment.

Lots of love.
